Geography of Egypt

Geographically, Egypt can be divided into three zones- the desert, the Nile Valley and the Sinai Peninsula. The Nile Valley stretched between the Mediterranean Sea to the southern parts of Egypt. This river is the life force of Egypt, without which the great Egyptian civilization could not have flourished in the arid desert. The Nile Valley is very fertile, ideal for growing crops like cotton and wheat.
The Western Desert stretches from the Nile Valley to Libya. The Eastern desert stretches from Nile Valley to Red Sea. The characteristics of the Eastern Desert are the mountains that are found near the Red Sea coast.
The Sinai Peninsula is located near the Mediterranean Sea. It is made of rocky terrain, mountains and a plateau region.
The climate of Egypt varies from cool to hot. While peak summers (May-October) can be disconcertingly hot, the pleasant winter (November-April) is the best time for an Egypt tour.
